Spasticity Management
Presented by Jim Kult MD, diplomate ABPMR, CIME

Spasticity (tone) is an involuntary contraction of one or more muscles. When the motor system is affected by disease or injury, spasticity can occur. The message for movement is either not received or misinterpreted resulting in involuntary tightening of a muscle or groups of muscles. Managing tone is essential to maximize an individual’s recovery in the rehabilitation process. If you don’t have a good spasticity plan, your recovery plan will not be as effective.

Tune in to this presentation to learn beneficial education on the causes and management of spasticity as well as medication treatment options and medical interventions. Understand the causes and symptoms of spasticity, the risk and benefit of anti-spasticity medications, and the indications for neurotoxin and baclofen pump interventions.

This program has been approved for 1 CCMC CE credit hour.
